Phyllis Davidson Easter Seals Scholarship

Easter Seals Alberta is pleased to offer post-secondary scholarships to students with physical disabilities through the Phyllis Davidson Easter Seals Scholarship program.

Paying for college is difficult at best, but Easter Seals Alberta through the generosity of the founder of the Phyllis Davidson Easter Seals Scholarship is offering an academic scholarship to help ease the financial responsibility of post-secondary schooling to students living with the challenge of a disability.

Scholarship Application

Criteria

Value
Scholarship support is given for a qualifying student working towards a post-secondary program in Alberta. Scholarships are generally in the amount of $2,500 up to $5,000 per school year.

Eligibility
A student of, or candidate for admission into a Community College or University in Alberta, with intent to pursue an academic or professional program leading to a degree, diploma or certificate.

Ongoing Eligibility
The selected student(s) must provide, annually, proof of enrolment as well as their academic transcript, no later than June 30th of each year.

Selection
Selection may be based on academic achievement or financial need.

Criteria
Student with a permanent physical disability requiring use of mobility aid i.e. wheelchair, power scooter or power chair
Able to attend an annual recognition event.

Applications
Must include the following:

  1. A complete application form
  2. One (1) nominating letter of reference describing the reasons the applicant would be a worthy recipient of the scholarship. This application should highlight the applicant’s contribution to the community, academic achievements and other accomplishments
  3. One (1) letter of reference from a teacher at the applicant’s school or from an individual who is familiar with the applicant’s community service
  4. A one (1) page typed essay on your goals and the role education will play in achieving those goals, how you require the funding to meet those goals
  5. An up-to-date, certified academic transcript

Application Deadline

Applications must be received at the Easter Seals office no later than June 29th for the next academic year.
